Hiding under hats
It’s early and the ladies are out walking in their hats.
Of course there is nothing wrong with ladies wearing a ball cap. It is not only functional but stylish. But we all know why they are wearing their hats. They are hiding something.
Beneath that lid, visor or bonnet is a head of hair that has gone wild! The bed head remains as the body is put into motion in pursuit of physical fitness.
What’s worse? A public display of hair gone awry or a cover up that is easy on the eyes?
A case could be made for both but I think I know what the morning walkers would say, “Fake it until you make it back home to remake it!” Can’t say I don’t blame them and to be honest, I am grateful for the consideration they have for going easy on my eyes!
I only can dream of the option to cover up the obvious. As a follicaly challenge bald-headed male, I have little need to distract from a bad hair day. I have embraced my loss and reach for the hat, its function over fashion. There is nothing worse than a sunburned head or glaring sun in your eyes.
The need to hide the hair makes me think of other things I might be hiding. How honest am I about my personal state of affairs verses my hairs?
Are there attitudes, actions or strongholds that I have come to accept that in subtle or obvious ways are holding me back? What am I hiding?
Bad hair days are a challenge but blind spots are even more of an obstacle to success.
Perhaps it is time for me to get honest with myself. Not hard on myself, but honest. Maybe it is time to lose the hat and reveal the real me by taking a good look in the mirror and doing what I can to organize the mess that is staring back at me.
Is it a hopeless endeavor? Is your hair too far gone to fix? Trust me, I can relate to that dilemma! But here is the deal, whether your life resembles a bird’s nest or a bald eagle, God isn’t finished with you yet. He has a way of appreciating your honesty and using it to make the most of what you’ve got!
Whether you part your hair on the side or super wide and down the middle, be honest with yourself, hats have a purpose and so do you!
In case you are wondering, I don’t own a comb or a brush. But I do have a closet full of “bald caps”!
