Now that I can tolerate!

Let me see if I understand the hot topic off the day.

If I’m gay I am suppose to boycott Chick-fil-A because their CEO believes in traditional family values but gladly serves any customer regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation.

So does that mean if I am heterosexual I am suppose to stop going to my barber, not accept peanuts from my favorite airline steward, quit listening to Elton John and not buy my wife’s shoes from the male clerks in the women’s shoe department all because they might be gay?

H-m-m. You know, I think I’m gonna go grab some Chick-fil-A, get my hair done, take a flight to San Francisco and enjoy pretzels and peanuts all while I crank up Elton John on my Bose headset and then stop by and pick up a hot pair of new shoes for my blazing hot bride on the return flight.

Why? Because I’m a freaking American! I live in the land of the free and because I’m a follower of Jesus who believes I can love sinners and still hate sin.

Even though I feel compelled to stand up for biblical truth and I need to call a spade a spade, I’m still required to love bald headed CEO’s, lisping fellows and manly women all the same.

I have gay friends, straight friends and a whole lot of crooked friends. I expect them to hold me accountable to the Lord’s standards and not their own. Hopefully they will still love me even when I’m wrong and still have the courage to tell me when they think otherwise. And if they are really my friends, they will expect me to do the same.

So yes, homosexuality is wrong, adultery is evil, stealing is sin as is cheating on your taxes, watching Internet porn and not taking care of your family, widows and orphans! He without sin throw the first chicken strip!

I say we all go hug a “homo”, invite them over for dinner, unpack some Chick-fil-A, pray over our meal and confess our sins one to another and then maybe, just maybe, we can all work to be free from our vices and learn to live in love.

Whew! Now that I could tolerate!

  1. I must respectfully disagree that “homosexuality is wrong”.

I know that the Bible says
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.”

But is also says that we shouldn’t eat shellfish or work on Sundays. And that adulterers should be stoned to death. We do not interpret those things literally.

I didn’t choose to be born a heterosexual anymore than I chose to be a male or a Caucasian. I just am. And I don’t believe that gay people chose to be gay. They just are. I can’t comprehend a God who would create someone who is gay and then hold it against him/her.

Any way, I didn’t come just to criticize.
I appreciate the fact that you are accepting and willing to say that none of us are perfect. I know that I am not. I just wanted to add my two cents.
